Travel Guide: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Typically when people visit Florida they go to Miami; This holds true for people of all ages, but South Florida has so much more to offer than just Miami. I frequently travel to Fort Lauderdale and I consider it to be my second home. I recently traveled to Fort Lauderdale for graduation #covidgrad and I decided to take a more touristy approach to this trip and I swear I blinked and somehow my visit turned into a foodie adventure lol! Therefore in this travel guide, I will share my favorite brunch, lunch and dinner spots in Fort Lauderdale.

Brunch: Shooters Waterfront

Shooters Waterfront is an American restaurant located on Fort Lauderdale Intercoastal at Oakland Park Blvd. This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating near the waterway. The waterway makes this restaurant accessible by water taxi which I think is pretty cool. The price range for this restaurant is $31 to $50. I’ve had brunch and dinner here and I definitely recommend Shooters for brunch. Dinner at shooters is very expensive and the food in my opinion it is not worth the cost. For brunch, I decided to sample several items from the menu. I had the crispy calamari, grilled lollipop lamb chops, brioche French toast and steak and eggs and trust me I did not miss! The best part about brunch at Shooters is that you can have bottomless mimosas or bloody Marys for only 20 bucks for two hours! The worst part about brunch at Shooters is that it’s only available on the weekends. Let’s normalize week day brunches!

Lunch: Bodega Taqueria y Tequila

Bodega Taqueria y Tequila is a casual Mexican restaurant and lounge that serves a variety of Mexican street food. This restaurant was voted best tacos in Florida by USA Today. At the time of my visit, there was only outdoor seating, but I was told there is a secret door that leads to a lounge. The decor is very trendy and hip. The restaurant is located on Las Olas Blvd. The price range is $30 and under and the tacos are to die for! I had chicken, barbacoa and carne asada tacos. I also had the best elote ever! My favorite taco would have to be the barbacoa and I can’t wait to go back to try more tacos. The drink selection was limited, but I am pretty sure that was because the lounge was not opened yet. If you are a taco lover I definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try!

Fun Fact!: If you have ever been to “Ven a la Luz” in Tulum, Mexico, there is a replica across the street from Bodega.

Dinner: Louie Bossi’s Ristorante Bar Pizzeria

Louie Bossi is an Italian restaurant located on Las Olas Blvd in downtown Fort Lauderdale. This restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating. I always request outdoor seating because the decor is phenomenal. The outdoor patio gives me the feeling of eating in a small garden in Italy. Every item on the menu is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. The price range can be anywhere from $31 to $50, but the food is worth every cent. I ordered the Radiatore a la Vodka and it was the best vodka sauce I have ever eaten. I washed the pasta down with a Lychee martini and let me just say my stomach was very happy at the end of the night!
